On Saturday August 28th, 2021 our section had the privilege of touring the amazing collection of Mercedes-Benz automobiles assembled by Pat Matthews nestled in the hills outside Glen Ellen, CA. The collection is housed in a spectacular custom building which includes a display room, work shop, machine shop and spare parts room. Pat has an unparalleled passion for the brand having owned, driven, repaired and restored many examples over more than 30 years. Each model in the collection has special meaning and while many would consider them to be museum pieces, to Pat they are meant to be enjoyed and are all driven. Pat took our group through the collection giving us history and background on each and every model. Several of these vehicles have been shipped around the world to various driving events including the beautiful black 300SL Gull Wing. A huge thank you to Pat for allowing our group to tour his collection and I feel privileged to have been able to coordinate this event for you all.
