Southern Stars Section recently co-hosted a Cars & Coffee at the Classic Car Museum of Saint Augustine!
This was the Southern Stars Section first visit to the Classic Car Museum of Saint Augustine, and it was a blast! We met some new and transferred section members, and some Mercedes-enthusiasts who signed up for MBCA membership! We will also be hosting our Christmas luncheon at the Museum on Sunday afternoon, December 12, more details will be announced later. Save the date.
We would like to share a special THANK YOU to museum owners Sidney and Brenda Hobbs for being so generous with sharing car stories, welcoming our members, and bringing their own Mercedes for everyone to enjoy!
We had a great variety of Mercedes-Benz vehicles shared! The grouping of the black and white SUVs was enjoyed and appreciated, including a shiny GLC 300, an extremely low-mileage G55, and the big body GLS 450, the current chassis that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is built on!
We enjoyed seeing two E 55s for the first time, and a beautiful 1983 380 SL shared by Member Matt Mason, who also shared most of these amazing photographs, thank you very much Matt! We had a couple new sleek nearly new E-Class sedans (Motor Trend’s current “Car of the Year!”) shared, as well as Section President Chase Jackson’s 2012 E 550 Cabriolet. Michael Philippi & Sara Rudley shared their 2013 SL 550 with us after moving from the San Francisco Bay Section last year, they are now new members of our section! Member John Allen shared his SLK 350 and Membership Director Gary Keener also shared his CLS 550. Vice President Dave Wommer also shared his SL 63. Mike Cevera shared his stunning 2017 C 63S, and his father Nick Cevera shared his gorgeous S 63 cabriolet with us!
After admiring the cars that arrived and meeting new members, and talking about our next event, a Drive & Dine to the Casements Mansion in Ormond Beach, Florida (The Birthplace of Speed!), to visit the Winter Home of John D. Rockefeller, and the Cultural Community Center of Ormond Beach. From there, we’ll have a scenic drive through “Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail”, before arriving at a river-front restaurant to chat about our next adventures!
