Twenty folks in nine cars enjoyed a country drive, a visit to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco, and a Mexican lunch.
The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is the official historical center of the Texas Ranger service. Here, we followed the exploits of this legendary group of enforcers from the Indian Wars two centuries ago to their mission of law enforcement today. In the museum’s amphitheatre, we enjoyed a History Channel presentation of the service’s missions, roles, deeds and misdeeds throughout its history, and became familiar with its more famous and colorful members. We also perused the many artifacts in the museum - badges, dioramas, firearms, memorabilia, and other items used by the Texas Rangers throughout the service’s long existence.
After our museum visit, we lunched at the original El Conquistador Mexican restaurant, a family-owned establishment which has served hungry Wacoans since the sixties. After lunch, we made our way home on our own.
