Part of our Saturday/Sunday Drive series of casual drives, the British Columbia Section spent a relaxing Saturday afternoon with fellow exotic machinery buffs, at Pitt Meadows Airport (YPK).

Vice President Tony Millikin arranged to have our cars displayed as part of the Wings & Wheels component of Airport Days, celebrating the opening of a new section of runway.

Many different marques of cars showed up in the staging area at Sky Helicopters, and were then escorted in convoy along the taxiways and onto the runway. Mercedes and the MBCA were the largest group of single-manufacturer displays.

We had a good opportunity to wander around amongst some interesting and iconic aircraft. The most striking was the world famous, DeHavilland Beaver float plane in destinctive red and white colours, marking Canada's 150th birthday this year.

Amonst the favourite aircraft were a Bell Jet-Ranger helicopter and a small single-seater Glasair SH2R, pictured in the page banner. Photo by Tony Millikin.

Victor Chan and Joseph Anthony also captured the day beautifully with their photos.

A nice day's outing, we enjoyed the drive, aircraft and displays, a live band, and beer and food. We all had a great time meeting and chatting with others there that day.
